Apology

Dear Token Readers (if any),
I apologize for my lack of blogging lately... I have not only been extremely busy, but I don't ever want to give you an "oh... I'm supposed to do a post today. eh, I don't feel like it... I'll just slap together something in 3 minutes that isn't that special or worth wile to spend your time on" post. So all in all... not only am I busy busy busy (since when is summer not for relaxing?!) but I also don't want to just blow-off my blog... I know, which I'm avoiding by doing just that. So don't you fret reader! (I know you're out there!) Posts a-plenty are to come! And oh. When they do. You better hold onto your socks, America.

oh and, um, not to put another damper on the situation... but I'm going to be gone again until next Thursday. Crazy craziness. So if I were you, reader, I would be looking for another post about this time next week. Possibly this weekend, I leave Monday.

Please, don't forget about us!
If you leave your e-mail in a comment on this blog (or send it to me at JTylerBlog@gmail.com with "sub" in the subject) I will put you on a subscription e-list and every time I update the blog I'll send you an e-mail letting you know there's an update.

I promise you, posts will become much more regular soon. Just as soon as all this stuff boils over.... and oh, have I got some stories for you guys, and of course your much awaited Mondays and Thursdays. All of which will be made up.

keep on living your life :)

My Life Story, if you care.

I got this survey from Bzoink. I'm classically bored, yes. I would go on and put up Twilight Thursday's update... but it's far to special to do at 2 am when you're lying in bed and apparently typing "too loudly" according to this guy I keep around ;) . I'm also a bit deranged now. Anyways... just something to help you get to know me.

Love love love,
Julia

Legally Blonde or Bombed?

As I begin this post can I please just yell this?
I LOVE LEGALLY BLONDE, THE SEARCH FOR ELLE WOODS (on MTV)! I LOVE IT!

But to some of those girls I want to just say, "girl. please. please, girl. please." I would just like to know what went through some of their heads. What I mean by that is; if I had auditioned for the show, and I had the opportunity (as did the rest of America) to watch the broad casted version of the show that aired on MTV... why did they not just memorize the entire show?! I would have had Laura Bell's blocking down, every song memorized, and have a good good grasp of all the lines if I truly wanted to be Elle Woods. It was almost painful to sit and watch some of those girls miss a line (although few did) and sing the wrong verse of the Delta Nu song as they were learning it.

Anyways, other than that... acting wise nobody... NOBODY... blew me away. Vocally they are all very impressive.

Two of my friends (who are also very involved in Theater) watched last nights episode with me (which if you missed it I'm sure MTV will play it religiously) and we started finding our favorites, and my not-so-favorites. Here are my inputs (spoiler warning!):

Autumn- Curly hair? Straight hair? Girl. Keep it straight... you are the cutest with your straight hair. And she is very cute! When she was at the piano playing she reminded me A LOT of myself. A lot. I didn't know I loved her, though, until close to the end, when she reminded me of myself once again when she fell on the floor when they told her about the trick! (watch the episode) She is the cutest and I hope she goes far. My very Favorite.

Bailey- She won stand out performer and stood out in my mind. Last episode I thought she was annoying and I didn't like her that much. But this episode I loved her so much! She delivered her lines in such a cute way. And way to correct that accent, it's very close! I like her a lot. She again, is the cutest. Favorite.

Cassie O.- Poor Cassie O. She got the boot, the big pink boot. I liked her, but I didn't like her as Elle Woods. She can do other things in theater and do them well. Break a Leg Cassie O.!

Cassie S.- ehhhhh.. I do not like her. Overall she just didn't wow me. Not as Elle, not as an actress. But I did like her cover on the missed line. She always looks like she has to work so hard to realize what's happening around her. She'd make a cute blonde, though. Maybe she'll grow on me. But for now Not-So-Favorite.

Celina- Again, no! Terrible! I was not happy that she was put through. She doesn't look the part of Elle (red hair aside) and her attitude, I just don't like her. And all that waving when she didn't hear the line... yeah... nice cover with the explanation, but no, you broke character. And then that hyena laughter? NOT-so-Favorite.

Emma- Reese? Little Miss Serious though! She's super pretty, and is an "ehhh" actress. I don't know about her attitude though. I need some more Emma time before I can decide.

Lauren- Such a little girl look.. not really Elle. I don't know. I liked her when she was talking at the table, but I just don't know about her yet either. She's sitting right on top of the fence with me.

Lindsay- OOOH! Lindsay! You were such a disappointment! I LOVED your look! I HATED your acting! I liked you so much! But now... oh I just don't know! Please! Improve!.... this pains me... but Not-so-Favorite.

Natalie- ehhhh, I really don't like her. But that's just from what I've seen. She doesn't look like any Elle Woods... and her acting seems very one-dimensional. And when she was practicing the lines she looked hunched-back. Not-so-favorite

Rhiannon- Goofy. Weird. and not in a good way. The one plus I can give her is that she's memorable. She seems like that gawky teenage girl that hasn't gotten used to her new set of equipment. Not-so-Favorite.

So those are my views on the "Blondes" for now. I can't wait for next Monday!

Musical Monday

(Song is right above this post. Press play to listen. {as if you didn't know})

It's officially Monday! Which means it's time for a song from one of my favorite musicals!

And just for the record, no, I was not sitting at my computer counting down the seconds until 12:00.

what we have this week:
"Still Hurting" from The Last 5 Years

Although, can I just take a moment and express my love for The Last 5 Years? It's beauty. If you were one of these "Oh my! I will marry Norbert Leo Butz because of his role in Wicked"... just. you. wait. His voice is beautiful. And Sherie Rene Scott earned a high spot on my favorite's list after I bought this album. Jason Robert Brown does not disappoint.
The Last 5 Years is filled with those songs that you go "I want this to be my audition song!" just so you can have an excuse to buy the sheet music and sing around your house day after day...

Now... back to Still Hurting. Not to say it isn't beautiful, but it's not my favorite off of the soundtrack. So why did I pick it? Well, one day I was driving along listening to my Sirius radio, (channel 77 "Broadway's Best"! With the lovely Seth Rudetsky) and they were playing their typical "safe" classic songs. ( I swear! The number of times I've heard "Standing on the corner watching all the girls go by...."!!!) Basically, I sit through a lot of it just anticipating something new or unique or a favorite to be played. So there I was, probably listening to another play through of "Hernando's Hideaway", when all of the sudden I heard the delicate introduction begin. I saw Sherie Rene Scott's name listed as the artist and I was at once interested. (She won me over in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels). I listened through the song feeling such emotion from her, such a pull into her story, and her voice wasn't too bad either ;) . I wanted to know more. So I went home and went straight to iTunes, where I was thrilled to see Norbert Leo Butz's name listed. Instantly, I bought the album. Then I fell in love. Bought the sheet music. Watched all the youtube videos I could scrounge up. So basically... the reason I chose this song is because it is the song that caused me to fall in love with the entire The Last 5 Years soundtrack. Maybe it can do the same for you.

Some of my favorites off the soundtrack:
"I Can Do Better Than That"
"See I'm Smiling"
"Nobody Needs to Know"
"Shiska Goddess"

Let me know if you like it!

First One!

First off,
Hello! I'm Julia Tyler, the blogger of your choice!
Okay- bad thing. I really don't know what this blog is going to be about. I know, way to hook my readers, right?
I like a lot of things so you'll probably like this blog.

Here are a few weekly things I thought of starting:

Monday- Musicals
I love Broadway, Theater is truly my passion. So I thought every Monday I would post a song from one of my favorite musicals just for you guys.

Thursday-Twilight
One thing you should know about me, something that's a very big part of my life right now, is my love of the Twilight series. They are honestly... honestly... the best books I've ever read. It almost feels silly calling them books because their impact seems so much bigger. I really don't know if I can even do this segment because once I get started on this topic I just go and go and go. ANYWAYS... God is on Stephenie Meyer's (the author) side, because December 12 "Twilight" the movie is coming out. And to say I'm stalking the movie process would be accurate. So I thought every Thursday I'd post an interview or clip of the movie. Basically because it's my life right now... so it might as well be part of my blog.

If you want to read Twilight.... which, obviously, you SHOULD. Visit Stephenie Meyer's Website.

I'm sure I'll think of more... but for now... that's it!

Thanks,
Julia
